Information we collect and how we use it
Email subscriptions
When you subscribe to free email updates, we collect your email address and, if you provide it, your name. We also keep information needed to manage your subscription, such as your subscription status and signup details.
We use this information to send updates about Dr Alexander Lerchner’s papers, talks and reflections. We rely on your consent to send these emails.
You can withdraw your consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in an email or by contacting us. This does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before you withdrew consent.
Subscribing does not sign you up for unrelated marketing from Monreve AI Ltd.
Enquiries
If you contact us, we use your contact details and the information in your message to respond and handle any follow-up. We rely on our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and administering the website.
Technical information
Our website and service providers may process technical information, including IP addresses, browser information and security logs, to deliver, maintain and protect the service. Where we process this information for security and administration, we rely on our legitimate interest in operating a reliable and secure website.
Service providers and international transfers
We use Ghost to publish content and manage subscriptions. Providers supporting website hosting, email delivery and technical operations may process personal information on our behalf.
We use Google Workspace to receive and respond to enquiries sent to info@alex-lerchner.com. Google processes the email addresses, messages and attachments involved in that correspondence on our behalf.
Newsletter analytics
We have disabled newsletter-open and link-click tracking in Ghost. We do not use these features to monitor whether you open our newsletters or which links you click.
Our email-delivery providers may still process delivery information, such as failed deliveries and bounce reports, to operate the email service and manage subscriptions.
YouTube videos and external links
The website may include embedded YouTube videos. Loading or interacting with an embedded player may share technical information with Google/YouTube, such as your IP address, browser details and information about the page you are visiting. The player may also use cookies or similar technologies.
Further information is available in Google’s Privacy Policy.
The website also contains links to external articles, audio recordings and professional profiles. When you follow a link, the destination website processes information under its own privacy policy.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies or similar technologies may be used to support functions such as signing in and maintaining a secure session. Embedded third-party content may use additional technologies.
Where consent is required for non-essential cookies or similar technologies, it must be obtained before those technologies are used. Agreeing to receive email updates does not itself constitute consent to third-party tracking.
How long we keep information
We keep subscription information while your subscription is active. After you unsubscribe, we may retain a limited record where necessary to respect your unsubscribe request, document consent or meet legal obligations.
We retain enquiries for as long as needed to resolve the matter and any relevant follow-up. Technical and security records are retained only for as long as necessary for their operational or security purpose.
When deciding retention periods, we consider the purpose of the information, whether it remains necessary, and any applicable legal requirements. Information is deleted or anonymised when it is no longer needed.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you have the right to:
- Request access to your personal information.
- Ask us to correct inaccurate personal information we hold about you, or complete it where necessary for the purpose for which it is used.
- Ask us to delete your information.
- Request restrictions on how we use your information.
- Ask for a copy of personal information you have provided to us in a commonly used digital format, where this right applies.

You also have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests, including processing for direct marketing. You can unsubscribe from email updates at any time.
